'IMPOSSIBLE' BY JAMES ARTHUR
It is always a good resource to use music in class as it is motivating for students and they can have access to a natural learning environment as that of an original song. In my classes I always allowed them to bring their favourite songs to class and to work on the lyrics, meaning and so on. They can work both in primary and in secondary schools but the learning relevance could be higher in secondary courses. I really loved teaching English through songs and my students did too.
For this post I have selected a song which I did not like at the beginning for being a little repetitive but after a few times listening to it I realised that it brings an educative content underneath. 'Impossible' by James Arthur. Nobody has sung the word "effortlessly" as he does. Enjoy it and use it in class....

AN EVERLASTING LEGACY BY NELSON MANDELA
As a homage to a great human being as Nelson Mandela, I would like to share with you his speech in the role of a School Teacher for Spike Lee's movie Malcom X.
It is a very simple message but it goes direct to your heart. It is not only a message about black people integration but also a message to all humankind about the rights that every person has regardless of his believes, nationality, social condition or colour of skin.
Nelson Mandela together with Martin Luther King belong to the patrimony of all human beings and our children should be aware that their message is important here and now:

Ayer concluyó el curso Blogs and web 2.0 tools for English Teachers. El principal objetivo era dotar al profesorado de los conocimientos necesarios para crear sus propios blogs de aula y dotarlos de contenido multimedia que resultasen motivadores para sus alumnos quienes son los principales beneficiarios de lo aprendido por sus profesores. Ha sido una gran satisfacción observar que los 15 profesores participantes han logrado crear unos materiales personalizados de alta calidad educativa y han sentido la satisfacción de generar actividades que antes les parecían impensables.

FERRARIBIBLOG. AWESOME BILINGUAL PROJECT BLOG
Today I want to recommend you a blog made by a Valladolid High School, IES EMILIO FERRARI. It is a blog which supposes a framework for all the activities teachers do with their students.
From The CFIE Valladolid we promote the use of classroom blogs and of blogs which show school projects as this one which promotes the bilingual school project.
To my mind,this is a reference blog for all bilingual High school blogs in Castilla Leon as it shows videos and activities of all the projects they do with their students who are the main focus of the project. They organize the blog in three sections: Geography and history, science and literacy.
The work they do to promote Drama activities or book trailers are worth having a special mention. This work could be a role model for the new High Schools which are working with bilingual projects in Valladolid and other provinces in our region. I share with you two videos of a drama show and a book trailer. Congratulations to cristina Bienes and her colleagues. Wonderful work! Keep on working this way.
ENGLISH BLOGS OF REFERENCE BASED ON A COURSE
Fruto del curso de oferta abierta 'Blogs and web 2.0 tools' surgió el interés de los participantes por continuar la actividad con un Grupo de Trabajo que personalizase en cada innovación de los blogs todo lo aprendido en el curso además de innovar con otras herramientas que cada uno de ellos ha compartido con los otros miembros. Fruto de ese gran trabajo os invito a visitar cada uno de los blogs creados por los participantes.
Es un placer para nosotros comprobar como un curso de oferta abierta ha tenido una acogida tan excelente. BILINGUAL EDUCATION IN THE PROVINCE OF VALLADOLID. CRA LA VILLA IN PEÑAFIEL
Dentro del Plan de Formación del centro público CRA La Villa de Peñafiel incluyeron un itinerario formativo dedicado a la creación de materiales para la sección bilingüe.
Fruto de esa labor formativa, los profesores han alcanzado un alto nivel de competencia TIC aplicada a la enseñanza de science y art en inglés a través de un seminario de creación de materiales y un curso de conversación.
En este video podemos apreciar las bases de su éxito.
El uso constante de la lengua inglesa y el uso de la PDI y el blog como recursos de refuerzo de su nivel oral.
El profesor que aparece en el video es también el coordinador del PPED (Plan Personal de Equipos Docentes) de creación de materiales bilingües que se lleva realizando en el CFIE de Valladolid desde hace tres cursos.
Sirva este video como muestra del ingente trabajo de los profesores del CRA La Villa por dotar a su alumnado con la mejor formación en lengua inglesa.

XXV ANIVERSARIO EOI DE VALLADOLID
El pasado miércoles 6 de marzo se celebró el acto principal del XXV aniversario de la creación de la Escuela Oficial de Idiomas de Valladolid. La sesión inaugural fue presentada por la directora de la EOI Fredesvinda Antuña quién rememoró la historia de la EOI desde el curso 1987-88 en el centro Juan de Herrera hasta este año en el que 5.800 alumnos aprenden idiomas en el edificio actual.
La ponencia inicial fue de la periodista madrileña Nieves Concostrina quién, en tono humorístico, relató las desventuras y las dificultades que le han impedido hablar un segundo idioma. Este acto inicial contó con la presencia del Consejero de Educación de la Junta de Castilla y León D. Juan Jose Mateos quién agradeció el esfuerzo de los trabajadores de la Escuela Oficial de Idiomas en pro de sus alumnos.
Dentro de los actos del centenario también cabe destacar el éxito de la representación de Romeo y Julieta en todos los idiomas ofertados por la Escuela, así como los talleres de iniciación de idioma en el que tuvo excelente acogida el taller de escritura de caracteres del idioma chino.
El viernes 8, los profesores disfrutaron de la ponencia: Inteligencia emocional y buen humor aliados del profesorado, por parte del gabinete de Coaching INVICA a las que quiero agradecer su colaboración desinteresada y el excelente buen humor que generaron entre los profesores participantes. Sin duda, pusieron un broche de oro a estas "bodas de plata".
Enhorabuena a todos los profesores, equipo directivo y, en especial, a Elena Moronta quién ha liderado desde el mes de octubre toda la planificación de estas jornadas. ¡Gran trabajo!
SECCIONES BILINGÜES INGLÉS
La enseñanza de idiomas es y debe ser una de las prioridades de nuestro sistema educativo y la creación de secciones bilingües ha ayudado a esa mejora. Él éxito de las secciones bilingües debe basarse en dos pilares fundamentales: profesores muy preparados, con gran nivel de inglés y una metodología comunicativa que genere un aprendizaje práctico y motivador desde edades muy tempranas.
Un gran ejemplo de estos dos pilares es el CEIP Alonso Berruguete de Valladolid que es centro bilingüe desde el curso 2008-2009. Los profesores de inglés han realizado formación específica a través de seminarios formativos sobre creación de materiales bilingües con PDI y Laboratorio de Idiomas. Dicha formación ha facilitado la integración de las TIC en el aula de inglés.
En el siguiente vídeo vamos a ver cómo trabajan en el centro con alumnos de inglés de 1º de Educación Primaria y con alumnos de Science de 2º de Educación primaria. La dinámica de aprendizaje es espectacular.
Agradecer a Marta Liaño y Verónica Rodríguez por recibirnos y dejarnos compartir su gran trabajo en pro del aprendizaje de la lengua inglesa desde edades tan tempranas. Con docentes así, la enseñanza del inglés está en muy buenas manos.
DRAMA IN THE ENGLISH CLASS COURSE CONCLUSIONS
The course “Drama in the English classroom” has taken place in CFIE Valladolid during January and February.
I would like to thank all participants for the willingness and dedication they have shown in the development of the four sessions of the course. We have also had an excellent teacher trainer, Colette Johnston, who has exquisitely captured the idea of the course.
I love drama and I absolutely believe in the benefits of the application of drama techniques and rol-play to the foreign language classroom. Experience has shown me so.
With drama, students improve their self-esteem, learn to better understand their emotions, develop their creativity, handle their verbal and body expression, stimulate their memory and their ability to improvise, promote collaborative work ... in short,they LEARN and have FUN. Is not that life? ¡Lo nuestro es puro teatro!
